I’ve had many people reach out to me asking questions about my hair care routine, how I curl my hair, etc. Later this week, I will be sharing a tutorial of how I curl my hair, and other details on my Instagram stories. I will save them in my highlights to make it easy to reference. (Find me on Instagram @nohighercalling_)
I thought I’d share a few details here. Over the past year, I’ve been changing things up with my hair routine to find something that better supports my continual loop of pregnancy and postpartum hair. My hair had gotten pretty unhealthy, as were my hair care habits. I was washing at least every other day. I really had no choice, if I went longer than that, my hair would be greasy. With each wash, I would have to blow dry and style. Frequent washing (with chemical laden products) and lots of heat application had made my hair dry and brittle.
About 6 months ago, I switched all my hair products. I now only use Monat shampoo and conditioner. I don’t use any styling products. I’m down to washing my hair 2x each week. It’s back to being silky smooth and very healthy! Not to mention, I’m loving the freedom of less washing, drying and styling.
Below are the products I use. I use Monat Black Shampoo for the first wash, Monat Renew Shampoo for the 2nd wash, and Monat Volumizing Revitalize Conditioner.
I get my products from my sweet friend @joygolovko
Most of the questions I’ve received about my hair are about how I get my curls. Let me start by saying I have always struggled with curling my hair. I have thick, heavy hair, so I would spend an hour curling it, only to have it fall out in less time than it took to curl! I definitely didn’t have time for that! But, I do love when it’s curled. Last Christmas, my sis-in-law gifted me the Bio Ionic Curling Wand. It has been a total game-changer!! Now, I curl my hair the day that I wash it. (video tutorial coming on Instagram later this week), and my curls will last and look beautiful until I wash again- which could be up to 4-5 days!!
